Dr. Mohamed Madi who was ssigned by AACSB as a mentor to our school, made his first visit between 15 and 18 March 2016.
Firstly, Dr. Madi visited our rector Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Elmas. During the visit, our rector explained the quality processes of Sakarya University and SAU Model with a presentation.
Dr. Madi noted the importance of strategic leadership by stressed that AACSB accreditation was given not only to the faculty but to the entire university.
After the meeting, Dr. Madi made a presentation about 15 standards of AACSB accreditation and issues to be considered. At the end of the presentation, our mentor answered the questions.
Then, Dr. Madi met the school department heads and board members. Our mentor especially emphasized that curriculum development, measurement of learning outcomes, and assignment-promotion issues should be handled within an institutional structure and at the school level.
Dr. Madi later met undergraduate and graduate students in business school. Our mentor stated that the group that will benefit most from accreditation is actually students, and that community activities are an important evaluation criterion in terms of student participation, especially for schools that want to be accredited.
After the meetings, our mentor, dean, vice dean and core accreditation team discussed the technical work our school has done on accreditation so far. During these long hours of work, our mentor made important recommendations on reducing the course load of our faculty and conducting higher quality academic studies. Our mentor also found our mission determination process very successful. At these meetings, we could share our thoughts bilaterally on the content of all standards and the self-evaluation report we are preparing.
